There's no better time for an engagement session in Washington, DC than during the Cherry Blossom Festival! Early in the year before, couples begin to book and plan for the peak bloom. The National Cherry Blossom Festival takes place at The Tidal Basin in Washington DC every spring. This festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees to Washington DC from the mayor of Tokyo as well as the friendship between the United States and Japan. About 1.5 million tourists attend the festival over the four weekends each year. You can see the blossoms around The Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial, MLK Memorial, and many other places.
Cherry blossom engagement session photos were taken at Washington, DC's Tidal Basin during the peak bloom. The number of sessions I schedule per year is limited to three (in order to avoid scheduling in accordance with peak bloom, I limit myself to three sessions per year).
To be able to serve my clients in the very best manner, I limit the number of sessions available when these gorgeous blossoms are in peak bloom. It is a very short window (I believe 4-7 days depending on the weather that year) when these beauties are at their best, so I want to make sure everyone gets in.
It's the only time you can photograph cherry blossoms before crowds arrive during cherry blossom season! The early rise is crucial! While it will still be very crowded in the Tidal Basin, it won't be as bad as in the evening!
Once you schedule your session, I will put an approximate date on my calendar, but be prepared that it might change - sometimes more than once!.
